Hoba Sushi is the local sushi originated in Gifu prefecture, and each region has their own way to make it. Through this activity, you will understand the cultural story and the way to cook of Hoba Sushi as Gero style.
The origin of Hoba Sushi is outside lunch. Hoba is magnolia leaf in English, which has a good effect on food protection like killing bacterias. In the past, people worked in a mountain or a field and brought Hoba Sushi on behalf of the lunch box currently.
Hoba Sushi is also a seasonal local food. People can make it only from May to August, when Hoba leaves grow. That is why this cooking class starts from picking Hoba leaves.
The 2 hours cooking class will offer you a new insight of local food culture in Gero, and you will make Hoba Sushi after coming back to your home country!
